What is the difference between technical and non-technical language in terms of ICT?

Technical language is formal and uses terms that people within the ICT field would understand more than those who are not, for example the phrase "You will naviagte away from this page and a new dialogue box will open" may be easier for a person who works in the IT industry to understand; someone who does not work in the IT industry would be more lilkely to understand the term "This page will now be closed a new page will load".Technical language is what would be used within companies for people who understand the terminology whereas non-technical language would be used in, for example, user manuals teaching people how to connect to a network.

What is the unit about?

The Communicating in the IT Industry unit is all about learning how to communicate effectively within different environments in the IT industry. You will exlplore different mehtods of communication, for example e-mails, web chat, blogs and one to one conversation. You also learn about different types of language that is used, for example technical and non-technical/ formal and informal.

My review of the unit

I found the Communicating in the IT Industry unit interesting, as I found about different methods of communication that are used within different sectors of the IT industry. For example, before completing the unit, I wouldn't have thought that large IT companies would use webchat as a means of communication but having completed the unit, I found out that it can be a very effective method. I also learned some new techniques in terms of language and when to use different types.
